 Leading Complex I.T. Projects

Perhaps you have the budget to start a new project but your internal resources are operating at full tilt and have no capacity to take on the additional task. And even if internal resources are available to do project management work, have they been sufficiently trained to do the job?

Or perhaps departments have historically taken opposing points of view, and to assign a Project Manager (PM) from one department will always be perceived that the PM will favor his/her old department on project related matters.

Cogenix has senior Project Managers at the ready to provide quality work. We take on Information Technology assignments in the banking/finance and manufacturing industries, that can last from a few weeks to over a year. In doing so we will:

• Minimize disruption to your business

• Provide an unbiased, third party view that is best from an overall company perspective.

• Alleviate the problem of refocusing members of the IT team away from its core duties.

• Minimize project risk by following a proven methodology.

• Provide fully defined deliverables, including a project charter, status reports, issues log, risk assessments and change control documentation.

Defining Requirements

Essential to the success of any software project, is the identification and documentation of what the user desires to accomplish from a business perspective – in other words, the results of the software that the business needs to solve.

The Cogenix Project Managers will define both software product and project scope to make sure that all the work is properly understood and agreed to by the project sponsor and key stakeholders.

Then, PM’s will determine how the work will be completed. A Work BreakDown Structure and finally a WorkPlan will determine what activities need to be completed and in what sequence. From there, resources, effort and dependencies between activities or tasks will be defined.

Tracking Progress

Finally, Project Mangers will manage the WorkPlan by updating completed work and work in progress in their tracking system of choice (typically MS Project). Potential risks and changes to remaining work in time, cost and quality will also be evaluated.

Alternatively, Cogenix can train personnel in Project Management and be used as a sounding board or be called upon at specific milestones in the project to ensure everything is on track.
